An evening with Ben Morris
June 15 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm£5
Tuesday 15th June, Autism Inclusive will be welcoming Ben Morris, to deliver a unique and insightful talk on his life as an autistic person as well as offering supportive strategies and advice from his own personal perspective. Ben will be happy to take questions at the end of his presentation.
People have described Ben as ‘the person who lives between two Worlds’ and Ben says this phrase has come about because he is autistic, but can function in the neurotypical environment. Ben is married, has a cheeky one-year-old son and is currently working full time as the Quality Compliance Officer for a local care organisation. Ben discusses how some people never believed that he would achieve anything in his life, especially as he was educated in a special needs unit and could not speak, write, and communicate (in a neurotypical way) until he was 11 years old. However, Ben has 9 GCSE (all A-C), 4 A-levels, 2.1 BA Hons Communication Studies, a PGCE (Primary Education), NVQ 5 in Health & Social Care and he’s just finished his Masters degree in psychology where he researched empathy in people on the autism spectrum. Ben is also a qualified funeral director!
Ben has been an elected Disability Wales Board Member and has advised on both the Welsh Government Crossparty Autism Steering Group and the Crossparty Disability Steering Group as well as advising Flintshire County Council Autism Steering Group and the North Wales Autism Integrated Service. He has delivered training and presented for such bodies as the National Autistic Society, Autism Together and the Department of Work and Pensions as well as speaking at national and international conferences. In his spare time, Ben enjoys painting (where he sells artwork across the world), creating computer software and websites and being an avid gardener as well as enjoying being a new father.
It looks to be a very interesting evening 🙂
